Corridor improvements with a lane reduction can improve safety and comfort for all roadway users. Benefits include shorter pedestrian crossing distance, room to provide separated lanes for bicyclists, and lower vehicle speeds. There is also potential for fewer collisions with a two way turn lane vs. being stopped waiting to turn in a through lane.
