We recognize the vital role that parks and open spaces play in fostering community well-being, recreation, and environmental sustainability. Camas’ parks, open space, greenways and waterways are a critical component of the City’s green infrastructure and play critical roles in supporting healthy, well-functioning ecosystems. These many benefits include maintaining and enhancing air and water quality, mitigating impacts of climate change, capturing stormwater runoff, and providing recreational and scenic opportunities to connect with nature that promote physical and mental well-being. The Parks & Open Space Management Plan (POSMP) responds to the community’s feedback in Camas' long-range Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan to:

1) Maintain what we have

2) Fill gaps and improve trail connections

3) Develop and improve existing parks

by outlining a strategic vision for the thoughtful management of parks and open spaces within the City of Camas, ensuring that they continue to serve as resources for all uses.

POSMP GOAL & OBJECTIVE

Goal: Optimize the management of our resources through data-driven decision making and operational efficiencies.

Objective: The City of Camas aims to create a framework to help prioritize efforts in a way that aligns with community, city, and funding resource goals and shared values. Efficiencies in our own operations will allow for a focus on best management practices (BMPs) in order to set an example, provide clear guidance, and collaborate more with the community.

  • Provide clear incentives and guidelines for managing private open spaces.

  • Lead by example through public land management efforts.
