Just in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we are updating our 2015 ADA Transition Plan. Your feedback—as well as input from our advisory committee, local agencies, service providers, organizations, and partners—will help ensure that people with disabilities can safely move around our streets.
If you live, work, walk, roll, shop, or play in Camas, we’d love your input!
August 1, 2025 – Our online survey is now open through Thursday, August 31, 2025. Your feedback will help us evaluate curb ramps, traffic-signal push buttons, and sidewalks around incorporated Camas. All input is welcome.
July 1, 2025 – The first gathering of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is in the books! See the presentation used as a springboard for discussion, along with an overview of the meeting. We're still looking for additional members to give us the best insights possible. Please email mphillips@cityofcamas.us(External link) or call 360-817-7925.
June 1, 2025 – We’re looking for members and advocates of the Camas disability community to get involved! If you would like to join our project Community Advisory Committee (CAC), please email jcarothers@cityofcamas.us or call 360.817.1561 by June 20, 2025.
Purpose
To ensure accessibility for all who live, work, and play in incorporated Camas, we are updating two important plans:
Self-Evaluation Plan (SEP) – A study of our current curb ramps, traffic signals, sidewalks, policies, and practices to ensure there are no barriers to people with disabilities in the public right of way.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan – An outline including priorities, schedules, and budgets for removing accessibility barriers identified in the SEP.
Goals
To make these updates, we will be taking a close look at the sidewalks, crosswalks, curb ramps, pedestrian signals, and other components of public right-of-way—that is, the area on a public roadway, highway, street, or alley that allows people to pass through or use these areas.
We’ll also be learning firsthand from members and advocates of disability community what barriers they experience and then reflecting their challenges, suggestions, and priorities in our plans,
Get Involved in the Community Advisory Committee (CAC)!
If you are a member or advocate of the disability community and would like to become a member of the CAC, please email mphillips@cityofcamas.us(External link) or call 360-817-7925
As part of the committee, members will take part in approximately three sessions to learn more about the project and offer input.
Sessions may include virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and/or on-site tours, and all will be created with accessibility in mind.
Additional Community Involvement
There will be multiple ways for the community to offer input.
Opportunities will be posted here and publicized broadly when details are in place.
Background
These plans require regular updates and were last performed in 2015. The following related documents are available on the City of Camas website:
